ds the 1200 skua

well i got my record for ds yesterday

i got my trusty skua that is the 1200 wide up to 114 mph.

i think that is quite fast as some really experienced ds guys were impressed.

BUT, #*##** the very next lap after that one was called out, well it sort of got a flap and folded up, im guessing it reached it's top speed at about 120mph.
i will need to talk to peter to see if we can beef it up so it will handle mor forces,
in the states a guy has got 130mph with a s15 so mine is good for around here,

anyone else got any speeds for this one????

The Skua that did 130 was a 1200, not an S-15. It's mine! Not a whole lot in the way of improvements. But I did add an extra 2 layers of fiber tape, spanwise, on the front half of the chord. Funny thing is, I did that because I was concerned with the wing joints of the outer panels failing on impacts. I also slid pultruded carbon spars into the kit supplied spars. Ultracote covering and done. I do not have an all up weight, but it's not light, and if you keep the air speed up it will fly with nearly anything in light lift (6 kts small hill).

well she is all fixed up and now im just waiting for some good wind to have another go at my pb, she is a bit heavier so who knows what will happen

Nick, you should be good to go for a higher speed with the added weight. Did you add anymore spars?
