Product Description

The Skua is a RC flying wing glider designed for slope soaring. It is an extremely fast and aerobatic flyer and whips around turns with excellent retention of energy. The Skua is super quick, very agile and aerobatic, has a good roll rate, performs tight loops and flies inverted with ease. It will fly in reasonably light lift but performs best in winds above 10 knots on a good slope. Winds of 15 to 20 knots are ideal and it can comfortably handle up to 30 knots without any additional ballast weight. It has been designed for intermediate to advanced flyers seeking a top performing aerobatic flying wing with a unique look.

The Skua kit features:

  • CNC cut EPP foam wing panels for incredible durability
  • 9mm (approx 3/8") diameter fiberglass spar system for in-flight rigidity
  • Wide (up to 60mm, or 2 3/8") balsa elevons with tapered cross-section for superior integration with airfoil
  • Pre-marked coreflute for fins
  • Quality Dubro pushrods and connectors
  • Detailed construction manual with photos

Specifications:

  • Wing span: 1200 mm. (47 inches)
  • Typical flying weight: 700 grams (25 ounces)
  • Typical wing loading: 26 g/dm^2 (8.5 oz/ft^2)

  1. "To say I was impressed with how the Skua maidened would be a huge understatement..

Posted by Tai. on 6th Feb 2013

The thing that impressed me the most was how stable it was.. Smooth and predictable.. It just goes where you point it and doesn't lose height in the process. It just seems to cut through the air rather than push it out of the way... Thanks for designing my new favorite plane."
